Introduction

Before you notify followers, choose who receives the message. Trepy Communications supports audience targeting — for example, all followers, ticket holders for one event, or members of a sub-unit. Targeting is separate from publishing, which only makes content visible.

Objectives

After reading this article, you will be able to:

  • Select an audience scope in the Communications hub
  • Match message type to the right audience segment

Steps

Step 1: Open Communications

  1. Sign in as Organization Admin or Sub-Admin.
  2. Open the Communications hub in your admin workspace.
  3. Start a new notification (not just a publish action).

Step 2: Choose audience scope

Ticket holders (specific event)Event reminders, schedule changes
Sub-unit membersChapter- or team-specific updates
  1. Select the audience that matches your message.
  2. Narrow to a specific event or sub-unit when prompted.

Step 3: Confirm content is published

  1. Verify related events or posts are published if your message links to them.
  2. See event visibility if attendees report broken links.

Step 4: Send and review delivery

  1. Complete the message and send.
  2. Review communication history or delivery status if available in your hub.
  3. Adjust future targeting based on engagement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does targeting apply to publishing?

Targeting applies to notifications. Publishing uses visibility rules on content, not Communications audience picker.

Can I notify ticket holders before publishing?

Notify about content that exists. Publish the event first so links work.

How do I prepare audiences before event day?

Publish the event, then notify ticket holders with logistics — after adding tickets.
