Introduction
Before you notify followers, choose who receives the message. Trepy Communications supports audience targeting — for example, all followers, ticket holders for one event, or members of a sub-unit. Targeting is separate from publishing, which only makes content visible.

Steps
Step 1: Open Communications
- Sign in as Organization Admin or Sub-Admin.
- Open the Communications hub in your admin workspace.
- Start a new notification (not just a publish action).
Step 2: Choose audience scope
Common audience scopes:
| Audience | Best for |
|---|---|
| All followers | Org-wide announcements |
| Ticket holders (specific event) | Event reminders, schedule changes |
| Sub-unit members | Chapter- or team-specific updates |
- Select the audience that matches your message.
- Narrow to a specific event or sub-unit when prompted.
Step 3: Confirm content is published
- Verify related events or posts are published if your message links to them.
- See event visibility if attendees report broken links.
Step 4: Send and review delivery
- Complete the message and send.
- Review communication history or delivery status if available in your hub.
- Adjust future targeting based on engagement.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Why didn't followers get notified? | You published but did not notify | Send a notification with audience = followers |
| Wrong people received message | Audience too broad | Re-target to ticket holders or sub-unit |
| Sub-Admin cannot target org-wide | Role scope | Sub-Admins target within assigned sub-units |
Frequently Asked Questions
Does targeting apply to publishing?
Targeting applies to notifications. Publishing uses visibility rules on content, not Communications audience picker.
Can I notify ticket holders before publishing?
Notify about content that exists. Publish the event first so links work.
How do I prepare audiences before event day?
Publish the event, then notify ticket holders with logistics — after adding tickets.
